To be honest, I was more than a little bummed out about the whole CGChallenge as it turned out. Our team had some trouble getting things together, mainly because finals jumped out and bit us. We had a really good pace going there on the last day, but we passed the deadline when we were 75% done on the final render. We missed deadline by a mere five minutes.
Perhaps in reaction to that, I decided to take a break from thinking about anything to do with the Production Society. I think it did me some good. After a couple of weeks I decided to start working on the project I pitched at the end of the quarter. I essentially want it to be a photo-surrealist animated piece. Sort of an outer space allegory to the Greek mythos. However, the more I hear about Too Human, the less I want it to be an allegory, but more of an original Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I like being inspired by things, but if it gets too close to another work, I tend to steer clear. I've been bouncing ideas off of my friend, who is penning the final script for the piece. With the WIP script, my own sketches, and mood board, this is looking like a stronger project all the time.
In spite of this goodness, I'm in a conundrum. We've already accepted one project (a friend's senior project) for this next quarter. On top of this, we've been asked to head up some things to go into the school's Game Developer's Exchange for the Spring. I'm considering dropping my own project for a while to allow us to work on the conference and actually complete a project. We definitely need a finished project that looks nice.
